My Philosophy & My Class
Throughout every lesson I teach, I constantly remind students of the fundamental goals of my class - to build better students who have compassion and perspective in life. I will "waste" 10 minutes of the valuable 51 minute period to point out incorrect social behavior towards others when they arise. I will constantly remind students of the true meaning of their grades in Middle School. I will do my best to instill in them the real goals of school, not just the letter grade. My grading is harsh, but my tests are fair. There are no surprises in my class. If a student actively pays attention each day, they will do well. If they make other choices, they will not. If they rely on tutors to teach them, they run the risk that the work is not done the way that I emphasize in class. I want students to come out of my class saying that I'm a tough grader, but a good teacher. I'm ok giving a student a D or F along with techniques on how to improve. I will not inflate grades. The grade they receive in my class is earned. There is no fluff.Â
