Head Coach Nate Roe
Coach Nate Roe has been with the Wheaton North cross-country program since 1997, when he joined Hall of Fame coach Jim Martin as an assistant. It has been his pleasure to watch the program grow over the years with the help of dedicated athletes and coaches. Coach Roe is a graduate of Augustana College, where he was a 4 year varsity athlete in both cross-country and track under legendary coach Paul Olsen.
Assistant Coach Jeff Potter
Coach Jeff Potter has been a fixture within the Wheaton North cross-country program for over ten years. A highly accomplished runner in his own right, Coach Potter began his teaching and coaching career in Colorado, where he enjoyed great success with athletes in Aspen. His positive attitude and vast knowledge of the sport have been instrumental in the growing success of Wheaton North's program. Coach Potter is a graduate of Hobart College, where he was a 4 year varsity athlete in both cross-country and track.
Assistant Coach David Christensen
Coach David Christensen has been with the program since 2008, and adds valuable insight in everything he does. His passion for running and for helping young runners reach their dreams is evident each day. Coach "DC" is a renowned storyteller, and is constantly adding to his incredible knowledge of running through reading and discussion. Coach Christensen is a graduate of Wheaton College and lives in Wheaton with his wife Sharon. His son Collin was a key member of the 2007 Wheaton North team which was 7th in the state of Illinois.
Assistant Coach Sean Frintner
Coach Frintner joins us for his first year of teaching and coaching at Wheaton North. He originally hails from Elk Grove, IL, where he ran cross country and track for four years. He is a recent graduate of the University of Illinois, where he was in the School of Engineering, and finished with certification in Secondary Education. He was also heavily involved in the University of Illinois Club Cross Country and Track programs. He will teach Chemistry and Physics at Wheaton North this year, and we are thrilled to have him.
Where We Practice
Most days we are out and about on the roads and paths of Wheaton, Winfield, Glen Ellyn and Carol Stream. Our "workout" days usually take place on campus or nearby parks and neighborhoods.
