Regional Transportation Authority - Reduced Fare Card

All persons with a qualifying disability are eligible for reduced fare permit.  To qualify, individuals must complete an application and submit proof of disability.  If receiving disability payments from Social Security, a printout from Social Security dated this year with the word “disabled" is required.  If not receiving disability payments from Social Security, a doctor must attach a letter of diagnosis and must also fill out the proof of disability form located within the application. This card will allow you half off fixed routes and to register for transportation programs available in your area. You can call your township to attain the application. Ride DuPage

Ride DuPage is a transportation service that operates 7 days per week, 24-hours a day. Organizations such as municipalities, townships, social service organizations, and employers can participate by subsidizing transportation for their clients or constituents. Sponsoring agencies determine the eligibility for their riders. For example, a municipality may wish to establish eligibility based on age or disability, while a social service organizations may establish eligibility based on income. Once registered follow the Ride DuPage's rider guide. Typical fee's for travel include $2.00 for pick up and a $1.00 per mile.

Once you apply for your RTA card you may be eligible for the Ride Du Page Transportation Program. This is a two-step process. After you receive your RTA card you will need to then apply for the Ride Du Page program through the township where you picked up the RTA card application.

ADA Door to Door Paratransit Program

To qualify for ADA Paratransit Service, customers must first apply for eligibility with the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA).  The RTA ADA Paratransit Certification Program determines eligibility for complementary paratransit service operated by Pace throughout the region’s six-county ADA service area.  The process determines which individuals are eligible to use ADA Paratransit Service for some or all of their trips and which individuals can be served by accessible fixed route bus and rail systems.  Individuals who are interested in using ADA Paratransit service must apply and be found eligible according to ADA guidelines.  

To apply for ADA Paratransit, call the RTA ADA Paratransit Certification program at 312-663-HELP (4357) between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to request an application.

Department of Aging - Ride Free Program

Seniors and persons with disabilities who wish to qualify for the ride free transit benefit must apply using the Benefit Access Application and meet the eligibility requirements for benefits. To apply click the https://webapps.illinois.gov/AGE/BAA/Welcome.aspx. Every other year you must re-apply in order to be determined eligible.

When can I use my benefit?

The Ride Free Transit benefit will be available to the transit district the following day you are approved.  You will be able to print a certificate stating that you are eligible for the free ride.  Once eligible, you must contact your local public transit system to find out what their requirements are in order for you to receive the free ride benefit.
