The CT Critical Incident Stress Management Team will be conducting courses designed and supported by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF).
Class fee includes required course materials and ICISF certificate upon successful completion.
Course Descriptions
Assisting Individuals in Crisis
2 day class - 8:00am to 4:30pm - $200
(CT OEMS approved for 13 CME hours.)
Entry level program designed to teach participants the fundamentals of, and specific protocol for individual crisis intervention. Highlights include topics such as psychological crisis and intervention, the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) system, the SAFER-Revised model of intervention, suicide intervention, and more. It is designed for anyone who desires to increase their knowledge of individual (one-on-one) crisis intervention techniques in the fields of Emergency Services, Business and Industry, Education, Employee Assistance and others.
Maximum 20 attendees per course.
Group Crisis Intervention
2 day class - 8:00am to 4:30pm - $200
(CT OEMS approved for 14 CME hours.)
Class is designed to present the core elements of a comprehensive, systematic, and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum. Fundamentals of CISM will be outlined and knowledge and tools delivered to provide several group crisis interventions, specifically Defusings and Critical Incident Stress Debriefings. Highlights include incident assessment, strategic intervention planning, line of duty death interventions and more. This course is designed for those planning on being a part of a CISM Team in the fields of Emergency Services, Business and Industry, Education, Employee Assistance and others.
Maximum 20 attendees per course.
Suicide Awareness – An Introduction for Crisis Responders

Class is designed to enable first responders to recognize and effectively intervene with suicidal individuals. Highlights include an overview of suicide, risk and recognition, strategies for responding to those considering suicide, referral skills and more.
