Staff of The Month
Congrats and thank you Sunny Pleh for bringing out the "Sunny" side of our students at CSE.
"Sunny goes above and beyond for our students. Not only is he a teacher, but he plays the role of interpreter, counselor, parent liaison, driver, and mentor to our Karenni students and families. He often comes to school early and stays late to make sure our students get the extra tutoring they need. His role is so critical in building trust and a cultural bridge to our Karenni families. He volunteers to pick students up from their homes and drops them off for special events. All of our Karenni families know that when he calls them, it is important and they show up. He is at every PTO meeting translating and helping our Karenni families understand their roles as parents. He is truly a genuine and caring person in his actions, mannerisms, and words. For all these reasons and more I think he is deserving of our IB staff of the month."
Staff of The Month
Congratulation to 1st grade teacher, Ms. Anne Vang-Xiong for being selected as CSE Super IB Staff of the Month!
Ms. Vang-Xiong is dedicated, knowledgeable, and caring. She shows these qualities every day in her classroom and to her team. She has also been an incredible asset for the Karenni and Language Academy students, moving them up academically by the end of first grade.
Thank you, Ms. Vang-Xiong, for being such an incredible IB Champ and inspiration to us all.

Involvement with Upcoming Hmong OccasionsThere are two significant Hmong-related events happening in St. Paul over the next six weeks. CSE is going to be featured in both.
The We Are Hmong Exhibit at the Minnesota History Center opens March 7 and showcases the culture, history, and impact of the Hmong people. This event is historic because it celebrates the 40thAnniversary since the Hmong first came to Minnesota from Southeast Asia. CSE is excited for this exhibit and even more excited to be one of its featured schools.
To start, the CSE Dance Team was featured on the magazine's cover in anticipation for the exhibit. Then on Saturday, March 7, these very dancers performed for a private opening ceremony in the morning and the public ceremony in the afternoon to kick off the exhibit. More information about this exhibit can be found at: http://www.minnesotahistorycenter.org/exhibits/we-are-hmong-minnesota
CSE is also assisting with the upcoming Hmong National Development (HND) Conference: “Honoring Our Legacy, Onward to Prosperity.” HND is the national advocacy organization working to represent Hmong communities throughout the U.S. Every year, HND hosts a national conference, and this year's will be in St. Paul, April 16-18. The conference, held at the St. Paul downtown Crowne Plaza, will draw over 1,000 Hmong and non-Hmong professionals from around the country to discuss the state of Hmong American affairs.
To assist and participate in this conference, CSE will be one of two local schools to be toured by national leaders and conference attendees. Also, Superintendent Mo Chang will be on a panel discussing the impact of Hmong Culture and Language charter schools. In addition, CSE will host an exhibit booth at the conference, sharing with attendees about the successes of our school. More information about the conference can be found at : http://www.hndinc.org/conf.php
To help celebrate and recognize the impact of the Hmong community in Minnesota, and to help represent the state and Hmong education, CSE will be at the center of these two very special occasions.
We are honored to help and proud to be able to show all that we do.
