Robert Saxon

Professional Experience

Mr. Saxon has over twenty-five years of professional experience with twenty as a licensed Architect. His professional experience includes 7 years as a Construction Manager with the Detroit Land Bank Authority, 13 years as a Senior Project Architect with Hamilton Anderson Associates, and 5 years as an Intern Architect with Saxon/Capers Architects. 

His professional career includes active involvement in all phases of the construction process: design, project and team management, assembling construction documents, material specification and construction administration.  He has extensive experience working with community and governmental organizations.  His interests are specifically focused on the promotion of sustainable, healthy and energy-efficient construction.  

Teaching Experience

While serving as a Resident Fellow at the University of Michigan, Mr. Saxon created and taught an English composition course entitled "How do we get to Sesame Street: Vision of the Future City."  After graduation, the class evolved into a program introducing students to the profession of architecture.  After forging a partnership with two area non-profit organization, the program was tested for the first time in the summer of 2007.  Each year since that first summer, the program has been successfully run at no cost to interested students. 

Education

Mr. Saxon is licensed in the states of Michigan and Pennsylvania, is NCARB Certified and is a LEED Accredited Professional with a specialty in Building Design and Construction.  He’s earned Master degrees in Architecture and Urban Planning from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Engineering from Princeton University.

Kenneth Crutcher  

Professional Experience

Kenneth Crutcher is a licensed Michigan architect and has maintained his own design practice since 1998. His experience as principle of Crutcher Studio, Inc. has provided the opportunity to participate in many challenging design projects. Prior to creating Crutcher Studio, Inc. Mr. Crutcher has worked for prominent architectural firms in Michigan. 

In addition to professional and academic activities Mr. Crutcher is an active member in local professional organizations. Currently, Mr. Crutcher holds the position on the Board of Directors of the Detroit Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects. He is a past AIA Detroit Board Member where he held the position of Associate Director. 

Mr. Crutcher is also active in the community as a member of the City of Farmington Michigan Planning Commission.  He also is currently a member of the Pewabic Society, Inc. Board of Trustees. 

Teaching Experience

Mr. Crutcher is currently an adjunct faculty at Lawrence Technological University teaching design studio courses. 

He has also taught Interior Design courses at Eastern Michigan University.
