Fantasy, Fiction, and Film

Class Description:

This class will explore technical and creative elements of literature through the medium of film and print.

Class Objectives:

    • · Students will improve their critical thinking skills by reading assigned texts or viewing media selections and drawing conclusions.

    • · Students will improve their writing skills by completing assignments in written form following proper grammar skills.

    • · Students will improve their ability to express their own thoughts and opinions formed from working with texts and media creatively in both a digital and tactile form.

    • · Students will improve their comprehension skills by being exposed to a variety of texts and media formats.

Class Expectations:

1. Bring your materials to class daily: Laptop, Paper, Pencil or Pen

2. Come to class on time.

3. Complete assignments in a timely manner.

Late assignments are subjected to point deductions and will be sent to the Homework Lunch.

4. Regular attendance is a MUST with this course. Most projects are group based, if you are absent during group work days, you may be required to complete the individual project instead of receiving credit for a group project.

a. Precedence has been set in film electives to assign lunch study hall to view films that you are absent from viewing in class.

5. Laptop Use: Your Iap top is intended to enrich your learning experiences, not fulfill your entertainment needs. You are only allowed to use tech as directed to. If you do not comply with this class rule pertaining to your personal technology, there will discipline consequences and NO warnings will be issued.

6. Cell phone/Smartwatch: Should not be seen or used during class without permission. NO warnings will be issued and use is subject to disciplinary action.
