Q: What is the process for becoming a CPS Athletic Trainer?

A: Our trainers are hired as consultants and must adhere to same CPS security policies and procedures as follows:

• NEW TRAINERS: Trainers must obtain an FBI/BCI background check and submit to the Ohio Department of Education and CPS Security Department

• Submit receipts to CPS District Athletic Director for reimbursement

• Complete the Security Badge Authorization form and have it signed by the building principal

• Confirm with Nancy Young in the CPS Security Department to ensure that CPS has received the background check. Once confirmed, bring all necessary paperwork to the security department to obtain a CPS badge. 

• RETURNING TRAINERS: Returning trainers only need to update their background checks every five years.

• CPS performs a audit to evaluate which trainers, returning coaches, etc. need an updated BCI. The results of that audit are shared with district AD's, who communicate with their respective coaches and trainers.
