Q: What is the process for becoming a CPS Athletic Trainer?
A: Our trainers are hired as consultants and must adhere to same CPS security policies and procedures as follows:
NEW TRAINERS: Trainers must obtain an FBI/BCI background check and submit to the Ohio Department of Education and CPS Security Department
Submit receipts to CPS District Athletic Director for reimbursement
Complete the Security Badge Authorization form and have it signed by the building principal
Confirm with Nancy Young in the CPS Security Department to ensure that CPS has received the background check. Once confirmed, bring all necessary paperwork to the security department to obtain a CPS badge.
RETURNING TRAINERS: Returning trainers only need to update their background checks every five years.
CPS performs a audit to evaluate which trainers, returning coaches, etc. need an updated BCI. The results of that audit are shared with district AD's, who communicate with their respective coaches and trainers.
