Corvallis Primary School uses a standards-based report card to report student progress during each of the three trimesters. Educators have developed learning targets based on the Montana Content Standards at each grade level. The standards-based report card indicates student progress toward meeting the standards. The standards-based report card:
Reports on what a student should know and be able to do at the end of a given grade level.
Helps teachers, students and parents focus on the identified grade level standards.
Aligns curriculum, instruction, assessments and reporting
Allows a teacher to accurately communicate progress toward meeting grade-level standards periodically throughout the year
The report card lists the grade level standards and will indicate where the student is on the progression toward meeting those standards. Progress toward standards are reported with the following scale:
1 – Beginning to build grade level understanding. Student continues to need extra practice and support. It will not be unusual for your child to have a score of 1 at the first part of the year.
2 – Progressing toward meeting the standard. Student continues to need practice and support. A score of 2 is appropriate while learning a new skill or concept.
3 – Meets the standard consistently and independently. A score of 3 indicates demonstrating grade level expectations.
4 – Exceeds grade level standard consistently by independently applying and utilizing concepts and skills. As a score of 4 indicates unusually high achievement, typically few students perform at this level.
A blank space will indicate that a standard is not assessed during that term.
Middle School and High School use a letter based grading system.
Letter grades are determined based on percentages (0-100%).
Letter Grade Description:
A 90-100%
B 80-89%
C 70-79%
D 60-69%
F 0-59%
