Kristen joined the lab in summer 2019 as a Professional Research Assistant. She completed a double major in Psychology and Sport Psychology at Concordia University, St. Paul. She then went on to complete a Masters in Counseling Psychology at the University fo St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her research interests include student athlete mental health, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and overall student well-being. In her free time, Kristen likes to hike, read, and bird watch. She is currently and Research Assistant II at University of Denver.
Dr. Betthauser obtained a PhD in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Health Psychology, from the University of Colorado, Denver. Prior to that, she earned an MBA in Health Administration (CU Denver, 2006). She also holds a Certificate of Neuroscience from CU Boulder (2003). At the Rocky Mountain Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC), Dr. Betthauser is a Clinical Research Psychologist, and is an Assistant Professor in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. Her primary research interests include examining the impact of stress, resiliency, mild traumatic brain injury, and suicide on relationships and health and well-being outcomes. She is also interested in the acceptability and feasibility of complementary alternative medicine interventions for PTSD, traumatic brain injury and associated psychiatric outcomes such as suicide. Dr. Betthauser finds life balance in enjoying the beautiful Colorado outdoors with her dogs and son, and practices yoga and mindfulness daily.
Bo joined the CAIRR lab in 2018 as part of her Master in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience from the Netherlands. Her contributions to data collection and analysis led to a presentation at the Society for Neuroscience Conference and a publication. After completing her Master's degree, she worked as a psychologist and teacher. Currently, she treats those with therapy-resistant depression and OCD via neuromodulatory treatments, like Neurofeedback and rTMS. Her interests span the field of neuropsychology, sport psychology and sleep, as well as teaching, organizing and providing mental guidance to individuals in a way to further improve their lives. In her spare time she likes to take part in various sports, she adores music (influenced by the beautiful piano music Theresa always played in her office) and loves to be among people.
