Michael Broyles is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University, where he received a Bachelor of Music Education with an emphasis on piano. His teaching began in the OKC metro area - Western Heights, Moore, Edmond, and Heritage Hall school districts. After moving to the East Coast to work in the corporate world, he returned to Tulsa in 2016 to be closer to his family. He became the MS Choir Director at Collinsville in the Fall of '21, and his choirs and students won multiple Superior and Excellent ratings, top choir awards, and MANY individual student accolades. He is proud to now be the Collinsville Public Schools Director of Vocal Music. He's blessed to be in this position!
A note from Mr. Broyles:
I’ve been fortunate to be a singer in many church choir programs. I’ve been a member of community choirs. I’ve had the fantastic opportunity to be part of many outstanding choral groups. It all began with the skills I learned when I participated in music classes at the Junior and High school level.
I’m very excited to be part of the outstanding choral tradition here in Collinsville. I can’t wait to teach you. I can’t wait to monitor your learning. I can’t wait to hear you sing…and perform…and to watch you grow musically.

Jana Shilling is a Collinsville Public Schools Alumn! She graduated from the University of Tulsa with a Bachelor of Music Education with an emphasis in Vocal Performance. She is a mezzo-soprano who has performed in works, such as Handel’s “Messiah”, and has had the opportunity to sing professionally in the following chorales: Temple Israel, First Christian Church of Downtown Tulsa, and St. John’s Episcopal Church of Tulsa.
She grew up singing all the time and everywhere, much to the annoyance of her older brother, who often asked “can’t you sing in your head”? But, audible practice makes progress! She began her music career as a soloist in Children’s Christmas Play at First Baptist Church of Collinsville. She then began taking piano in the third grade, and continues to wish she would have taken practicing the piano more seriously!
She currently holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership Degree, and, her adult teaching experience includes teaching choir in Collinsville from 2008-2014 with the notable Mr. Bob Humble, then, in Union Public Schools, in Claremore Public Schools, and most recently, teaching math for two years at Epic Charter School. She is thrilled to “be back home” in Collinsville teaching vocal music to these incredible students and watching them grow as fantastic people and musicians.
