Community Service

Community Service Hours Cord Requirement

1. 200+ community service hours must be earned throughout high school (9th - 12th grades) to receive a cord.

2. Hours MUST be submitted no later than April 1st. Anything not turned in by April 1st will be entered for the next school year.

3. Community Service should be for the benefit of the community and/or school.

      • All hours must be actual time of service.

      • Hours cannot be earned during school hours.

      • You cannot equate hours for money collected or canned goods brought in, etc.

      • The student cannot get paid or earn a grade for the hours either.

4. The school system employee supervising and/or organizing the community service activity must submit the community service hours. For non-school related hours, the supervising and/or organizing must submit the required documentation in writing with signatures and contact information to Kate Walker (kate.walker@coffee.k12.ga.us) or Alissa Youghn (alissa.youghn@coffee.k12.ga.us). Documentation must include the following:

      • Given Name (First & Last ONLY ~ do NOT enter middle or double names)

      • Grade

      • Date of Service

      • Organization

      • Activity

      • Hours Earned

      • Adult Supervisor (name, signature, & contact information)

Annual Awards

    • 50 - 99 hours ~ Certificate

    • 100 - 149 hours ~ Acrylic Plaque

    • 150 - 199 hours ~ Medallion

    • 200+ hours ~ Silver Cord (If not a senior, receives a trophy)
