About Me

Hello! This is my eighth year at Jay M. Robinson, and I absolutely love it. I was at another excellent school, Community House Middle, before coming to Jay M., and decided to make the switch to be at my kids' home school (and because the hours work better for my family:-) My son is entering his sophomore year of college this year, and my daughter will also be attending AK as a junior in the extensions program. This will be my 26th year teaching special education; I started out teaching at a juvenile detention center in Midland, Michigan (three years), then a high school transition classroom for children with emotional difficulties in Detroit (one year), then moved to Sacramento, California where I taught multiple special education subjects at two middle schools (eight years), then followed my husband's job to Winston-Salem, NC where I taught inclusion ELA and math at a middle school (three years), and finally, at Community House, I taught inclusion in both ELA and math for 8th grade (three years). I have a passion for middle school, and love the craziness!

My husband and I just celebrated our 22nd anniversary, and we have two wonderful kids- our son, Knox, who is 19 and our daughter, Haige, who is 16. As the parent of both a typical kid and a child with special needs, I understand how crazy life gets and how important it is to have open communication with teachers. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any concerns you may have about your child; email is the best way to reach me, but please feel free to call me at the school if that is better for you.

I look forward to working with both your child and you this year!
