Newsletter and Nightly Unfinished Classwork

Hello Parents!

We are officially in quarter 3. Report cards for quarter 2 will come home on Tuesday. Please sign and return the envelope. The report is yours to keep. The Honor Roll assembly will be on Friday, Feb 1st @ 2:30 pm.

Permission slips for Chocolate sales to help offset the cost of Sonora have been sent home. This is completely optional. Detailed information is included on the permission slip to sell. We will also have an assembly about it next week too.

At the end of this month, we will be sending out information for those of you who would like to Chaperone on Sonora 3-day trip at the end of the year. We do this in advance since this is an overnight trip and all chaperones will have to have their fingerprinting and TB tests cleared before we go. All the information will come home at the end of January. Keep an eye out for it if you are interested. Every year we have a high demand of requests and are limited by cabin space, so we will likely have to go to a lottery selection.

Reading/Language Arts:

This week we will read informational texts about Martin Luther King Jr.

Our next CR will be a "your choice genre" lit log summary form. The instructions are available on Google Classroom. It is due Thursday, January 31st.

Spelling/Word Analysis:

This week will be list #18. The quiz will be on Thursday.

The lists will be available for pick-up in class and on our google classroom page. Go to the top-left side of this site, click on navigation bars next to my name. We will do an in-class assignment called "word wise" each week to understand the vocabulary and pattern. Students are responsible for studying as much as they need for a test on Thursday.

Math:

We will begin chapter 8: algebraic inequalities

Expect a nightly assignment in math and a check-up quiz at the end of the week. We will have a chapter quiz in about 2 weeks. All work must have work shown and steps written in order to receive full credit. It's not only about the answer, it's about the journey too!

The book is available online in your child's Clever account. You can also access it on through this site. Go to the top-left side of this site, click on navigation bars next to my name.

Science/social science/writing: Students will be assigned work from the different 6th grade teachers. Students are responsible for having their assignments completed and ready to be turned in by due dates.
