Newsletter & assignments - May 11-15, 2026
We have one more state test to go! We will do the math computer adaptive test (CAT) on Tuesday and Wednesday. Then we are prepping for Sonora the following week. You can visit sos.cusd.com if you would like to see the program in detail. we have sent home the schedule and packing lists twice now. If it hasn't made it home to you, please let me know and I can send another one.
Does your child needs extra time to get work done? They may voluntarily go to Homework Club during their lunch recess! Mondays - Room 21; Tuesdays Room 15; and Thursdays Room 17. If a student is getting far behind on their work, or administration assigns behavior intervention, they may be required to attend responsibility room during lunch as well.

We will continue unit 5 in study sync.
Language Arts/Writing/Spelling:
Spelling will be lesson #31. Word wise and quiz will be due Thursday.
Mr. Byrd's writing rotation we are writing Circle stories. Ask you child to show you the book they are working on. It's one of the best projects of the year!
Math:
Math CAT test this week and then we are done with 6th grade math! After, we will start learning a few new concepts to get a jump start on 7th grade.
Our math program follows California Standards and I focus on what we need to learn to be successful in future math classes. Lessons are taught by taking notes in class in a spiral notebook, whiteboard work, and handouts created to support what is important to learn. As extra support, we will use the online iReady program, not necessarily the textbook. Students will have a weekly required amount of "my path" minutes to complete.
History (Social Science):
We finishing our section on Ancient Rome. Ch 10, lesson 2
Science:
This week we are researching all about our trip to Sonora.
