Welcome to Mr. Geil's Website

I can't tell you how excited I am to be teaching for a 7th year at Buchanan High School! This year, I will be teaching American Government and Economics and the 9/10 AVID Elective. I am thrilled to be back in the classroom. More importantly, I get to do it in my community where my children will attend school and eventually become Buchanan Bears.

Educational Background

I graduated from Clovis High School in 1997 and attended Fresno State University. After graduating in 2002, I began working in the Bay Area at an Internet security company. After one year, I knew my passion was in the classroom and on the court, so I moved back to Clovis and began substitute teaching in Clovis Unified, coaching at Clovis High, and working toward my credential. In 2005, I was hired at San Joaquin Memorial High School as a full-time teacher and basketball coach.

I spent nine years as a teacher, coach, and most recently Vice Principal at San Joaquin Memorial High School. In the classroom, I've taught English classes including English 9, American Literature, Speech and Journalism, and Social Science classes including World History and U.S. History. I spent my first year coaching boys basketball as a Varsity assistant, and six years as the head coach. During that time, we won four league titles, and competed in four Valley Championships, winning it all 2012.

After spending seven years as a full-time classroom teacher and coach, I took the position of Vice Principal in 2012. While I enjoyed my time as Vice Principal, I also missed being in the classroom and coaching young men. When the opportunity to teach and coach became available at Buchanan High School, I knew in my heart I had to go for it, and I'm so glad I did. I love being a Buchanan Bear!
