I grew up in Sacramento, CA; after high school, I joined the US Army as a US Cavalry Scout. After the Army, I joined the National Guard as a Military Journalist and developed an interest in photography. I attended CSU Sacramento, majoring in Art Education, and furthered my education in photography, painting, and drawing. I currently hold a Masters in Education, Bachelors in Art Education, and two clear teaching credentials.
After college, I worked for a tech firm in Cupertino, CA as a tech writer, graphic artist, and product photographer. My responsibilities included studio lighting techniques to photograph products, create graphics for manuals/ sales brochures, and graphics used in client proposals. I am currently a Photography teacher with a credential in Visual Arts and a Career Technical Education credential in Visual Media.
In my class I strive to create a curriculum that is fun and rigorous. My belief is that every student has the ability to create beautiful pictures and develop wonderful art. My expectations for my students are that they understand exposure control and how ISO, Shutter Speed, and Aperture work together, Composition techniques to create a dynamic image, and use of photo editing software to further achieve their vision and create beautiful photography.
