Spelling

Our Spelling lists are based upon the CCS Language Standards* which require students to spell correctly and to demonstrate understanding of Greek and Latin affixes and roots as clues to help determine the meaning of a word.

Spelling Practice Packets consist of:

· Spelling Practice Cover Sheet, with chosen option under each list circled.

· The 3 chosen options, one from each list, each on a separate piece of paper (can use back side of paper as a separate piece), stapled in order.

The Spelling Practice options are designed to help students develop familiarity with the words through various practice methods. Thank you in advance for helping your student with pacing through the week so that they are not completing their entire spelling assignment on the Thursday evening before it is due.

**Spelling Practice will be assigned every other Monday and will be due on Friday morning of the second week it was assigned. A Spelling Test will be given the same Friday the packet is due.

The first assignment is written below. Future assignments will be written in your student’s daily planner on Mondays.

Assignment for the week of August 19th:

*Spelling Practice cover sheet, with name written at the top and option choices circled.

*Spelling Practice option choices: students must choose one option from each list (A, B, C) to complete.

*All work must be done in pencil, unless the option description says otherwise.

What is due and turned in on Friday, August 30th, stapled in order:

Spelling Practice cover sheet and Spelling Practice options in A, B, C order.
