All About Mrs. Bertin

Welcome to 6th Social Studies! My name is Mrs. Bertin and I am so excited to explore the world together with you! We will have a great time discovering the world through projects, discussions, group activities and hands-on activities. I love learning about the world around me and I will do everything in my power to help you learn to appreciate and hopefully LOVE Social Studies too.

I am originally from Jackson, Michigan. The relative location of Jackson is southwest of Clarkston. I have always wanted to be a teacher so when I graduated from high school I went to Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan (on the west side of the state) to earn my degree in education. I earned my Master's of Education in Educational Studies at Oakland University. This will be my 19th year teaching in Clarkston Community Schools. I love Sashabaw Middle School as I know you will too!

When I am not teaching, I enjoy going on long walks, traveling to new places, reading historical fiction, baking, playing with my girls and watching movies. One of my favorite foods is chocolate cake and I love to visit National Parks and forests. I live in Lake Orion with my husband, and three daughters: Madelyn, Emily and Lyndsey.

My daughters keep me very busy and I love sharing stories about them...so be prepared! Madelyn is going into 9th grade. She loves dance, art, and reading. Emily is going into 6th grade. She loves dance, swimming, reading and playing outside. Lyndsey is 5 and going into Kindergarten. She loves to play with her big sisters, dance, swim and explore everything!

We also have a golden retriever named Harper! We have a great time playing with him :).

I am very excited about starting the 2022-2023 school year with all of you and I hope that you are excited too.
