I'm thrilled to serve the Hilsman community with their multi-media and instructional needs. Having equitable, frequent access to a library is my top priority for our students and I work closely with teachers to make sure our kids always have something great to read.
The first half of my childhood was spent on the beaches in Miami and the second half of my childhood was spent in the middle of the Ozark Mountains on a remote farm helping show Paso Fino horses, grow a huge garden, and raise all kinds of farm animals. I love tinkering with technology, especially video production and digital photography. Spending time with my family and reading are my favorite things to do.
I began teaching in 1993 after graduating from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in English Education and have taught most core and many elective subjects grades K-12 in public and private schools. My experiences collaborating with public libraries influenced my decision to pursue a Master in Library and Information Science degree and my School Media Specialist certification. My husband, Claude, is an AP Environmental Science & Zoology teacher at Clarke Central High School and my daughter, Isabella, is a senior at the University of Georgia. We are committed to both the Athens' community and the Clarke County School System. To learn more about my professional background, please visit http://ljgonzalez.yolasite.com/.
