We are so glad you are here!
Welcome to 2A!
My name is Mrs Kelly Sikkel and I am very excited to be teaching grade two at St. Patrick's School for my third year! I am grateful to have been part of the St Patrick's school community for seven years both as a staff member and a parent of three boys.
You may contact me through e-mail at: ksikkel@cisdv.bc.ca. I try to check my emails at least once per day.
For urgent queries, please phone the school office directly, at: 250-592-6713.
I am looking forward to making this year a fun and interesting learning experience for everyone in our class. I work hard to make sure our class is a space which is calm, fun, safe and friendly, so I encourage everyone to treat each other with respect and care.
I am interested in reading, art and crafts, all sorts of sports, including running, soccer, and rugby. I love taking our class outside to learn and have a strong relationship with a local seniors residence, Amica House, which we visit as a class monthly to share stories, games, and build community relationships.
I just know this is going to be a great year!
Information for arrival:
Students will continue to arrive at 8:20 onwards and wait on the primary playground. When the 8:40 bell rings, 2A students are to come into the school through the 'breezeway', opposite from the main school door. I will meet them at the door.
Information for pick up:
Once dismissed, students will go to their pick-up location at the drive-through. Students who are walking or biking are reminded to leave the school property right away.
ALLERGIES:
All nuts or products containing nuts are not permitted in our class due to severe allergies in our class. Thank you for your understanding and for respecting the rules in order to protect members of our community.
Garbage - Free Classroom:
We encourage a litter-free lunchbox. All packaging will be sent home in your child's lunch kit. You are asked to do your best to pack lunches in re-usable containers. Thank you for your co-operation with this environmental initiative.
Happy Birthday:
We will celebrate your child’s birthday in the classroom with a birthday song and a birthday book. If your child has a birthday in the summer, we will celebrate it before the end of the school year. Our school has a healthy foods initiative so sugary treats are not permitted. If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday with the class, you are welcome to donate a book, a board game, or a ball to the classroom. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
Uniform Notes:
For reasons of health and cleanliness, please tie back long hair (girls and boys). Lice is a common problem in schools and having hair tied up is a great way of preventing the lice from spreading. According to our uniform policy, hair accessories must be plain, solid white, black or navy.
Nail polish is not permitted at school. Watches, plain studs or sleeper earrings are the only items of jewellery to be worn.
