So what's new in Astronomy? I'd say a whole lot has gone on. Here are some examples of things I have found. I hope you enjoy. I have made it easier to find links
I will add newer information at the top of the page
Ever wanted to chat with an astronaut? Well a new app lets you do just that! Why not chat with them as they orbit on the International Space Station? Read all about it here
A NASA astronaut on the International Space Station gives us some more reasons to want to swap jobs (for a while at least).
Launching micro payloads and satellites into orbit. Why spend all that time developing?
Watch: 'UFO' spotted in Australian skies identified as Chinese rocket
How do we launch rockets? Goddard was the US leader of rockets. Science Channel tells us more about his work
I never get tired of seeing the Earth from space. The ISS is easy to locate using the link, but you can also see the High Definition Earth Viewing experiment too.
The probe to alpha centauri will be tiny. Is this the future of space travel? Read more here
Seems that not all ideas are crazy. Innovation takes many forms and we shouldn't lose sight of that! Investigate the novel approaches to a problem as well as the more mundane.
A boomerang shaped glider could be an unusual spaceship. But there are plans to use it to examine Mars.
NASA Just Admitted They've Created Something So Advanced It Can Reach Lightspeed
Now it appears that other forms of propulsions (besides our current rocket engines) may be possible. It's like science fiction meets reality - read more here
I really think we should clean up after ourselves don't you?
It is our junk from the last 50 years. Space junk radar rocks!
I wonder what it was like on Mars? Amazing technology that allows us to study Mars from Earth. Making predictions and assumptions is easier and more reliable as we know more.
A possible solution is using another satellite - Cleanspace 1
We have created a lot of space junk since Sputnik was launched. Its good to know we can track all of it. Go to the link and have a read, then tell me what you think we should do
Solar System - Asteroids
Astrophysicists Chart Source of Asteroid That Killed Dinosaurs
The Sun's magnetic field shows up so well here. It looks like it has field lines, just like those we see around a bar magnet.
This is an example of what a star ejects and our magnetic field and atmosphere must deal with. It makes you think, especially if you consider the size of the amount of matter coming from the sun!
Our Milky Way Galaxy is bigger that we thought. It's not even flat like we thought it was, but corrugated like ripples on a pond. For more information, click here
