CROTON ACADEMIC CHALLENGE TEAM INTELLIGENTSIA
Founded in 2007, the Croton Academic Challenge Team (C.A.C.T.I.) is a school-year-long academic endeavor dedicated to promoting an interest in life-long learning within an engaging educational format.
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of current students and Mr. Bowden;
C.A.C.T.I.. has experienced considerable success and notable acclaim
- both for C.H.H.S. and the Croton-Harmon community.
Recipients of generous 2008 PTSA, and 2009 and 2012 CHEF grants,
we forge ahead in 2022 looking to build upon our impressive legacy.

• Hosted the “Golden Cactus” Academic Challenge, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018,
• Hosted the "Brain Bowl" tournament, 2013, 2014, 2015 (1st place each year)
• Participant in M.A.C.C. tournaments, 2013, 2014, 2015 (won "B" Division - twice), 2016 - present
MEMBERSHIP
C.A.C.T.I. is open to all CHHS students in good standing who possess the interest, intelligence, commitment and dedication necessary to build a world-class competitive academic challenge program at CHHS.

EXPECTATIONS
All team members are expected to work in a team dynamic and attend weekly meetings, bi-weekly practices, and scheduled academic challenge competitions.
With diligence and hard work, successful team members will work their way up to the “B” and “A” teams.
FORMAT
The typical academic challenge competition format is based upon four quarters as per below:
First Quarter – Toss Up Questions
Second Quarter – Bonus Categories
Third Quarter – 60 second Categories
Fourth Quarter – Stump the Expert Toss Ups
COMPETITIONS
W.A.C.K.O. – the Westchester Academic Challenge Knowledge Organization hosts four
competitions at Byram Hills High School (on weekends)
M.A.C.C. - the Metropolitan Academic Challenge Conference hosts four competitions
- at Horace Greeley High School (on Saturdays)
National Academic Challenge Championship – We've been invited to this event EVERY year.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Members of C.A.C.T.I. are expected to sign and abide by the attached “Rules and Regulations”.
