Counseling and Support

We are committed to helping students achieve their personal best. Support services are an integral part of our school program at the middle school level. Middle School Counseling is also a unique opportunity to guide early adolescent students through these challenging years of development. We are excited to have this opportunity to assist in the educational, personal, and social development of your child.

Services provided to students include:

  • Promoting positive self-esteem and attitudes throughout the student body
  • Working with teachers and parents in helping students achieve their highest potential
  • Assisting students with concerns and issues that are related to the natural process of “growing up”
  • Creating a safe environment for students where they can express their concerns

All students at PVC are provided a comprehensive guidance curriculum which includes classroom guidance lessons and guidance presentations and includes individual and group counseling sessions as necessary. The following topics are often addressed:

  • Academic Planning and Skills Support
  • Organization, Test-Taking, and Study Skills
  • Teaching Effective Coping Strategies
  • Peer Relationships and Social Skills
  • Communication and Problem Solving
  • Career awareness and exploration

The counseling staff is readily available to assist students and parents and to provide support with school, home and/or social concerns. We are committed to helping all children to succeed in school, achieve personal growth, and to realize their full potential.
