CLOUDLAND HIGH SCHOOL

SCHOOL-PARENT COMPACT

2023-2024

Cloudland High School and the parents and students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) (participation children), agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve our state’s high standards. The school-parent compact is in effect during the 2023-2024 school year.

SCHOOL RESPONSIBILITIES

Cloudland High School will:

1)  Provide high quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participation children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows:

·         Homework and classwork is provided to reinforce academic skills

·         Community, partnerships and volunteers support classroom instruction

·         Parent/family engagement opportunities are provided throughout the year

·         Additional reading support is provided for struggling readers

2)  Hold parent/teacher conferences (at least two) during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Conferences will be by appointment and held by the teacher at the beginning of school year.

3)  Provide parents with reports on their child’s progress. Specifically, the school will provide reports in:

·         Parent communication including phone calls, emails, and parent/teacher conferences.

·         Interim or mid-term reports will be provided at the halfway mark of each quarter.

·         If available, standardized test scores will be sent home in the last report card of the school year. We will also provide access to Skyward to view student scores in a real-time environment.

4)  Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows:

·         Staff will be available before/after school by appointment

·         Phone messages and emails will be returned within 24 hours

·         All parents must report to the office and present their government issues ID to sign –in

·         Administration, Guidance and the School Social Worker will meet with parents to discuss school related issues by appointment as well.

5)  Provide parents opportunities to volunteer on campus or participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities as follows:

·         Field trips, mentoring, and assisting teachers with classroom activities.

·         Parents may observe classroom activates for 60 consecutive minutes with 48 hours’ notice to teacher and with administrative approval.

6)  Provide opportunity for parents to plan review school improvement through attendance at Title I meeting.

7)  Provide parents with information about Title I, Part A programs.

8)  Inform parents of curriculum and assessments used to measure their child’s progress

 

Parent Responsibilities

As a parent, I will support my child’s learning in the following ways:

1.  Have my child at school on time and pick my child up on time from school

2.  Call the school to excuse absences at (423) 772-5300

3.  Keep the school updated of all changes in address or phone numbers.

4.  Make sure all student work is complete and submitted in a timely fashion by viewing Skyward and google classrooms.

5.  Participate in decisions relating to my child’s education, attend two conferences and maintain contact with the teacher.

6.  Respect school personnel

7.  Actively participate in school functions. As possible; open house, parent/ teacher conferences.
