Hi everyone!
I'm so glad you came to visit my new website. Here is a little background on me.
Early Years
I grew up in the Twin Cities and was active in music all throughout my elementary, middle, and high school years. I was in the choir, I performed in my school's musical theater program, and I participated in music ministry as well.
Education
After high school, I went to St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI (just outside of Green Bay) where I received my Bachelor of Music in Music Education. While at St. Norbert, I was involved musically in Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, the Singin' Knights, and Knight Theater. Outside of the music program, I was a founding member of Alpha Xi Delta women's fraternity on campus which provided me with a lot of service opportunities both on and off-campus. In my junior year, I was fortunate enough to spend a semester abroad in London, England. During my time abroad, I not only received a lot of academic knowledge, but I was also lucky enough to visit other countries in Europe and make many treasured memories. After getting a few years of teaching under my belt, I decided to further my education by pursuing my master's degree. I attended VanderCook College of music; an amazing school in Chicago, IL. After 4 long summers spent away from my family, I graduated with honors and received my Master's of Music Education.
Teaching
Upon graduation I got a job as the choir director at Green Bay East High School. After 2 years in that position, I transferred to teaching elementary music in that same district for an additional 2 years. In 2010, my husband and I moved to the Chippewa Valley. Elementary music jobs were scarce when we moved. I found a position at a good school in Barron, WI but the commute was nearly an hour each way. After 2 years in that position I finally found an opening in Chippewa Falls, my ideal district. I have been teaching here at Halmstad since 2012 and I can't see myself ever leaving.
Personal Life
During my 4 years teaching in Green Bay I met my husband, Chad and we got married in 2009. In 2010 we decided to re-locate to the Chippewa Valley in order to be closer to our families. We bought a house in Lake Hallie in 2011 so now I am fortunate enough to have just a 7 minute commute to work. What a difference that is compared to my long hauls to Barron! Chad and I have two wonderful kids. Our son, Noah, was born in 2012 and our daughter, Ellie, was born in 2016; they are the light of our lives. During whatever free-time I have, I love to read, spend time with my family, travel, and attend musical theater productions.
