Welcome to Mrs. Suter’s English class!!

This year we will be focusing on building our knowledge of the English language. We will do this through reading, writing, and vocabulary. Students will be exposed to a variety of literary genres to expand their mastery of comprehension and analysis of literature.

Students will focus on a multitude of skills during the year- such as inference, paired passages, context clues, making connections, author’s purpose, purposeful writing, text structures, character analysis, main idea, theme, text features, perspectives, and how to be capable readers and writers.

Students will increase their vocabulary to communicate effectively. My goal is to provide students with opportunities to grow as observant readers, active listeners, critical thinkers, and active writers; some of the essential skills needed in every aspect of life.

Course Materials:

Students will have until Friday of the

Loose leaf paper (college ruled) second week of school (August 30th)

One 3 ring binder (at least 1.5 inches) to get ALL of their supplies.

One pack of dividers

One package of sticky notes Please let me know if there are any

One package of notecards (no preferred size) issues with getting supplies.

Pencils of Pens (blue or black)

One box of tissues

Take Note:

In this class, you will be reading and writing. I rarely assign homework, however, if students are not using their time wisely you will be asked to complete unfinished work at home.

Students will be responsible for keeping up with all of their work (in their binder).
