CMS has four levels in our reading program:
Mark Twain/Truman is for 6th graders. Any student wishing to participate must read and review their choice of any 16 books (four per quarter). A total of 8 of these books must come from the 2024-2025 Mark Twain or Truman nominee lists. The other 8 books can be any book the student wants to read.
7th Grade Marathon Readers for our 7th graders requires that students read and review or report on an assortment of 24 books (six per quarter).
8th Grade Marathon Readers for our 8th graders require that students read and review or report on an assortment of 26 books (six per two quarters, seven per two quarters).
Master Marathon Readers for any 8th-grade student requires that students read and review or report on 30 books (seven per two quarters, eight per two quarters).
All four permission slips, reader check-off forms, and book report forms are available on this website. The quarterly due dates are October 18, December 20, March 7, and May 2.
