Teachers

 Patrick Pudlo, CTE Teacher, ECHHS

My goal as a technology teacher is to help all of my students become active, independent learners with the capability to understand, use, and create technology, and with the wisdom to do so in creative, productive, and socially responsible ways.  In my classroom, I want my students to experience the joy that comes with seeing their ideas become working creations, and I want to share the enthusiasm I have for engineering and design.

I have a Master of the Arts in Teaching degree in technology education from NC State. Before I started teaching, I worked as a computer software engineer in the communications, transportation, and manufacturing sectors, most recently with Cisco Systems.  My journey as an engineer began with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech.  Outside of the classroom, I am happiest when I'm building in my wood shop, a hobby I have enjoyed since I was a child, but I also enjoy tennis and reading.

Bill Vincent, CTE Teacher, ECHHS

My objective in the classroom is to encourage students to think critically about the problems they face. I want students to consider all the solution options available rather than settle for the first idea they come up with. These are important characteristics and demonstrate intellectual curiosity and will aid them as they begin their journey as life-long-learners.  I view my role as less a teacher and more as an intellectual coach. Together, we will develop and practice the skills and strategies that they can apply to their overall success. I am most satisfied when I see the "light come on" for a student who has struggled with a particular challenge.

Teaching is a second career for me. For seventeen years I served various roles in heavy industry starting in engineering, project management, product management to business development, regional and national sales management. I have had the opportunity to experience a technical industry from a variety of perspectives which helps me better understand how those roles must integrate to make the entire operation function effectively.

I earned my B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Illinois at Chicago and my MBA from Duke's Fuqua School of Business. I completed my education lateral entry course work through East Carolina University and most recently completed MEd in STEM Education through North Carolina State University. I am entering my eighteenth year as a high school teacher and my ninth year at East Chapel Hill High School. Prior to joining East Chapel Hill High School I taught various sciences with primary concentration in the subjects of physics and environmental science. Since joining ECHHS I have also earned National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) status.
