Whether you've spotted a stray or discovered a feral colony, CRA can guide you through what to do next.
Here's how our process works:
Step 1: Fill out our Help Request Form
Tell us about the cat(s) you've found and your situation. Include as much detail as possible—location, behavior, photos if you have them, and what kind of help you need.
Step 2: We Will Review Your Request & Follow-Up
Our volunteer team will reach out as soon as we're able to ask follow-up questions, discuss possible next steps, and connect you with resources—whether that's us or another organization better suited to help.
Step 3: We Work on Solutions Together
Depending on your situation, we may be able to assist with trap-neuter-return (TNR), help find shelter placements, or loan traps and equipment. We'll guide you through the process and provide what support we can to get the cat(s) to safety.
✅ What We Can Help With:
Support for trapping and TNR (trap-neuter-return) of community cats.
Information about caring for outdoor cats or connecting you with local resources.
Helping stray cats find their owners or a shelter placement.
🚫 What We Do Not Provide:
We are not a veterinary clinic or spay/neuter provider.
We are not an emergency rescue service.
We do not run a shelter or have a physical facility.
We do not accept owner surrenders or run an adoption programs.
We are not a pet-tracking or lost-and-found service.
How do I tell the difference between feral, stray, or lost cats?
Feral
Feral cats avoid human contact. They have either lived their whole lives on the street with little or no human contact and are afraid of humans. Some feral cats may have been owned in the past but have lived away from human contact long enough to revert to a feral state. Learn how to help your feral colony.
Stray
"Stray" means that you personally do not know if a cat is owned or not owned. Many cats are allowed by their owned to roam outdoors freely which is allowed in the Commonwealth, however there are may cats that are truly in need of your help. Learn how tell which cats are owned and how to get help for stray cats legitimately in need of assistance.
Lost
Lost cats will behave very differently depending on their personality and if they are indoor-only or indoor-outdoor. Learn steps and tips to help you reunite with your lost cat. The most important thing is that you not give up hope on your lost kitty!
