16-17 SAC Nominees

Candidate: Emily Hansen
Student's Names: Kyra Cole, Grade: 12 Grady Cole, Grade 10
As a member Chaparral’s SAC, my focus will always be on what is best for our students. I enjoy working with other parents, staff and students and I would be honored to put my experience to use at Chaparral, as an elected member of its SAC. Thanks for considering me!
Experience: I have served on the SACs at Prairie Crossing Elementary, Renaissance Expeditionary Magnet School, Sierra Middle School and for the last two years here at Chaparral. At each level I have taken on leadership roles including being Chairperson of the committee. In addition to my SAC experience, I was elected to and served four years on the Douglas County School District Board of Education from 2005-09. During my last two years on the Board of Education my fellow board members elected me to serve as Vice President, which I did proudly. I have also served as President of the Board of Directors at the Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning in Denver.

Hi I'm Kim Bailey. I have been a resident of Parker Colorado for 19 years. I have two sons who attended Pine Grove, Sierra and Chaparral High School. My oldest graduated from Chaparral in 2013 and is now a senior at the Air Force Academy. My youngest son is a Junior at Chaparral and plays baseball. I have been on the SAC committee for two years and would love to continue working with this team. By staying on the committee for an additional term I feel it will keep the group cohesive and moving forward. In addition, I have been a school counselor for 22 years and I feel my experience working in the schools offers a different approach and ideas. I appreciate the chance you gave me two years ago to be on our SAC committee and I hope you can trust me to fulfill the role as a parent and fellow educator for an additional term. Thank you, Kim Bailey

I am Veronica Kenny a strong advocate for what is BEST for kids. Like many I am a transplant to this beautiful State of Colorado. My husband, a teacher, and our three children moved to Parker ten years ago. We have three children, a senior at CHS, a freshman at CHS, and a 6th grader at Prairie Crossing.

I like to be involved in anyway I can to support my children as well as ALL the students at CHS and in our community. At CHS I am an active member of the Band Boosters and a recently new member to CHS Lacrosse Boosters. I have been an Elementary School teacher for 14 years and taught many of this years incoming freshman when they were in Kindergarten. I am currently transitioning into an Elementary Special Education teacher position. I have also been a Girl Scout Leader for 13 years. My biggest achievement to date is the success' of my three children.

I am running for SAC as parent. My primary reason for running for SAC is to be a voice for the students. I am often concerned at the level of stress and pressure they feel. I attended last years SAC meetings as a non voting member and started an open and honest conversation with administration around the amount of homework and the need for balance for our students. I plan to continue that this year.

I appreciate your vote and your support.
