Sam Naumann is the orchestra director for Cedar Falls High School in Cedar Falls, IA. Naumann also runs the programs at Aldrich and Southdale Elementaries in Cedar Falls. Previously, he was the director of orchestras at Charles City Middle School and Charles City High School in Charles City, IA.
Naumann received a bachelor's of arts in music performance and music education from Luther College located in Decorah, IA. While there, he studied cello with Phillip Borter, Cole Tutino, and Ismar Gomez. He studied conducting with Spencer Martin, Joan DeAlbequerque, and Andrew Last. He studied education with Jill Wilson and Tony Guzman. During his time at Luther, Naumann participated in the Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and sang in choir all four years. He presented a junior and senior recital, and was seen performing for many other recitals on cello.
Outside of teaching, Naumann is still an avid cellist. He has subbed with the Dubuque Symphony and the La Crosse Symphony and also plays at weddings and other services. When not surrounding himself in music, he is spending time with family and friends golfing, playing lawn games, or attending other concerts. Naumann resides in Cedar Falls with his girlfriend, Piper, 2 cats, Dewberry and Zippy, and dog, Norman.
