4th and 5th grade

A human growth and development lesson is included in the fourth and fifth grade curriculum to address the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Health. The instructional material being used in this lesson includes a video entitled “Always Changing” and an instructional PowerPoint directly related to the video. The instructional material focuses on growth and development and is presented through a pre-recorded video by a district nurse. The same instructional materials are used in both fourth and fifth grades. The district’s School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), which includes community representatives as well as school personnel, has approved the materials. Under Texas statute, parents have the right to exercise an "opt out" option for their students. Please use this form to indicate your student's level of participation in the Human Growth and Development lesson.
