Becoming the teacher I am today.

    It all began... in a little school desk, in a little kindergarten classroom, with a sweet petite teacher, Mrs. Johnson.  Mrs. Johnson was petite, but she had a big heart and inspired each of her students to dream big.  Watching and learning from her every day in that little kindergarten classroom, inspired me to dream big, and yes, the dream was to become a teacher!    Many days and years later I kept that dream in my heart, and let it grow a little each day in many, many ways!             

During my college career I worked in a wonderful early childhood center, taught ballet and tap to preschoolers, and taught fine art to after-schoolers in Clear Creek ISD.  My year-long internship was in Texas City ISD, teaching 2nd grade.  In December of 2001, I received my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Art Education, from the University of Houston.  January of 2002, I got married and moved to Denton, Texas!  This is when I began my professional teaching career and became a mommy!  My first year of teaching went by very quickly, teaching a wonderful 4th grade class and having our first baby! 

I paused my professional career for twelve years, and took on a blessed mommy career!  I had four babies during this mommy career time, and loved every moment! 

We moved to Bridgeland in the summer of 2011!  My big dreams of being a teacher were still alive and well, so I started substitute teaching for CFISD in the fall of 2013.  I was enormously blessed in February of 2014, when I became the Literacy Interventionist for kindergarten-2nd grade at Pope Elementary.  The following school year I became a 1st grade teacher at Pope!  After three years in first grade I moved up to second grade.  I taught 6 years in 2nd grade, and this will be my 1st year of teaching 5th grade Language Arts.  My love of teaching keeps growing every year, and I am absolutely ecstatic to continue this dream!
