Welcome to the 2025 - 2026 school year!! 

Dear Parents and Guardians,

            Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year.  My name is Kathy Kassens, and I will be your child’s reading teacher.  I am a graduate of Indiana University, holding a Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Mild Intervention.  I am excited to be working with you and your student and will do whatever is necessary to help your child succeed. 

            I live in Liberty, Indiana, with my husband, Mark, three daughters: Allison, Lauren, and Emma, and my granddaughter Amelia.  My husband is a partner at Brady Ware in Richmond, and my oldest daughter, Allison, is a 2020 graduate from IU in Bloomington.  She is an 8th-grade Social Studies teacher and is the varsity volleyball coach at Union County (I am the JV coach).  Lauren, my middle daughter, graduated from the University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE) with a degree in business and a minor in non-profit organizations.  She accepted a position with the Liberty Country Club and is in charge of events, billings, and the clubhouse.  My husband graduated from Alabama, so she is the “favorite” child.  Emma, my youngest, will be a junior at IU Bloomington, majoring in psychology.
