Athletic Code & Eligibility
The full WMS Extra-Curricular Code of Conduct and WMS Student-Parent Handbook pertains to all students participating in any extra- or co-curricular activity. To summarize some of the key guidelines for eligibility:
1. All forms must be completed through Skyward, including uploading the physical card. Additionally, the fee must be paid via Skyward Fee Management.
2. Athletes must attend 4 full instructional class periods of school on the day of a practice or competition. Exceptions to this rule - such as a family emergency, funeral, verified medical appointment or school-sponsored absences - are granted only with approval from the WMS administration. In addition, students are not allowed to participate on days of in-school or out-of-school suspensions.
3. Students must strive for academic success.
In order for students to be able to participate in athletics, students had to have passed all classes the previous quarter. If a student receives a failing grade from the previous quarter, they can not participate in any games for three weeks, but they can practice. After three weeks, if the student is currently passing the class(s) failed the previous quarter, they are able to participate. If the current grade is still failing, then the student will not be able to participate for two more weeks. After two weeks, if the student is now passing the class, they will be able to play in contests. If the student is still failing, they will be removed from the team.
4. Students must follow the athletic code.
