About Me

I am very excited to be teaching here at St. Matthew's!

I grew up in a small town in northwestern

Ohio (New Riegel) and graduated from Bowling Green

State University. I moved to Columbus shortly after

graduating and began my teaching career at St. Philip

Elementary. I taught fifth grade for 8 years at St. Philip.

Before coming to St. Matthew, I taught fourth grade at Our

Lady of Perpetual Help in Grove City. My family includes

my husband, Mike, and three daughters. Alana is our

oldest and she is studying for her nursing degree in Newark.

Jackie, our second daughter, is a freshman at Miami University in Oxford.

Our youngest daughter, Cassandra, is a freshman at Saint Francis DeSales High School. .

My mission for your child!

My goal for the fifth graders is to help the students understand that

learning is a never ending process that will continue the rest of their

lives. In order to be a life-long learner, I believe that it is important

for the students to understand that they need both a strong work ethic and a

natural curiosity about the world around them. We will be doing many hands-

on activities and simulations as we go through the year. Allowing the

students to become actively involved in the learning process is crucial. I

also believe it is important to give students choices when developing a

concept. Whenever possible, the students will be able to choose which mode

of learning interests them when completing a project or activity.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year with your child! Together we will

take your child beyond the classroom to a place where each child can dream

BIG and achieve any goal they set their mind to.
