Welcome to Ms. Michelle’s 4th-Grade Class!

2023-2024 Classroom Procedures

My name is Mrs. Michelle Pettus and I will be your child’s 4th-grade teacher this year. I am looking forward to working with you and your child to make this an awesome year.

Classroom Rules:

Listen and follow directions the first time they are given.

Treat yourself and others with respect.

Raise your hand to speak in class.

Always try your best!

Consequences:

Warning

5 minute loss of recess

10 minute loss of recess

15 minute loss of recess and note home to parents

Sent to principal/or detention

Due Dates for Assignments:

Classroom assignments are usually due the next school day after they are assigned. Students will have class time to complete assignments. If the assignment isn’t finished at school, students will need to complete it at home and it is due the next day. If class work isn’t finished, this will result in a zero.

Weekly Folders:

All students will have a folder for the class. Each side of the folder is labeled “Complete and Return” and “Remove and Review”. These folders will be sent home once a week (on Monday) for homework, completed and graded class work, and important notes. Please check for your child’s folder on Monday and sign and return by Wednesday.

Absences:

When your child is absent, he or she is responsible for making up the work they missed. Students will be given the work they missed and they have the same number of days they missed to return it.

Grading Scale:

A   93-100

B   92-85

C   84-75

D   74-70

F   69-0

Tests:

Tests will be given in all subject areas- Math, Reading, Language, Spelling, Science, and Social Studies

Homework:

Homework will be to study multiplication tables as well as study for any upcoming tests. Please read with your child at home as well. If students do not finish classwork, they will have it as homework.

Concession:

If your child does not complete classwork, homework, and/or has behavior problems, they will not be allowed to get concessions on Fridays.

Conferences:

We will have parent/teacher conferences twice during the school year. They are after school from 3-6 pm.

If you need a conference any other time during the year, please call the school at 484-7400 or send me a note.

Remind 101:

I will be using Remind 101 to communicate with parents throughout the school year. There will be a paper sent home with the directions on how to sign up for this text message group. This is a great way for me to send out messages to all the parents at once but I can also send you individual texts as well. PLEASE be sure you are signed up for this.
