Here you will find a brief description of required materials, directions on how to access textbooks, field trips, and grading procedures for my courses.

  • Required Materials

    • textbook, journal, pencil with lead & eraser, and loose-leaf notebook paper

  • Textbooks

    • Math textbooks are provided to each student. If lost, a 2nd book must be purchased by the family.

    • Science textbooks will be provided as needed, but the online textbook may be accessed through your child's gmail account at any time. Students will click on the "waffle" and select Pearson Savvas EasyBridge. We have reviewed the steps from here in class, but please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

  • Field Trips

    • 8th graders attend multiple field trips throughout the year to help prepare them for their transition into high school. We will attend a Career Fair at the Cumberland County Fair Complex, and tour both SMHS and TCAT to give students a glimpse into some future career opportunities and the education needed to achieve them. We will need parent chaperones for these trips, so please let us know if you'd be interested.

  • Grading Procedures

    • Math

      • 50% Homework (This will be completed mostly in class, but may need to be finished at home.)

      • 25% Classroom Work (These activities will take place in the classroom. Absences will result in an exemption from these assignments.)

      • 25% Quizzes/Tests (These will be given at the end of each Module. Unit tests may be given periodically as well.)

    • Science

      • 50% Classroom work (This will be completed mostly in class, but may occasionally need to be finished at home.)

      • 25% Participation (We will do many group activities in science in which students will receive a grade based on their involvement.)

      • 25% Quizzes (These will be given at the end of each unit.)
