Course Description: Students will cover standards according to the Tennessee state standards for STEM education.
Course Expectations and Materials: Students will be participating in a variety of projects and activities in order to solve real world problems in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students will be utilizing the Engineering Design Process in order to best resolve these problems. The activities will align with what grade/level of the STEM education a student falls in: STEM Explorers, STEM Innovators, or STEM Designers. Most projects will be divided into three parts: Research/Planning, Creation/Testing (Participation). and Analyzing/Redesigning.
Grading Procedure: Students will receive grades on each section. The Research/Planning and the Analyzing/Redesigning will be based on responses to questions and tasks. The Creation/Testing (Participation) will be based on the students responsibility to appropriately work on the task within their group or as an individual without needing to be redirected.
Major Assignments & Tests: Safety Test (students must have 100% accuracy in order to participate in any project)
Attendance/Make-Up Work Policy: Due to changes in the attendance policy, please refer to the Student Handbook. Any changes to this policy will be sent home in writing at a later date. It is the student’s responsibility to check for make-up work and to schedule time to take any missed tests or quizzes. Chronic absenteeism will negatively affect your grade in class. Nothing can be learned if you are not present. Remember we need you in school all day, every day!
