A Little About Mr. Fiala

Mr. Jon Fiala

Mr. Fiala was born and raised in Seward, Nebraska, son of Dr. Robert and Maxine Fiala. He went to St John Lutheran School and Seward High School, graduating in 1984. He went to Concordia College in Seward (now Concordia University) and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a major in mathematics and a minor in art. He took his first call to Our Savior in Fenton, Missouri, as the 7/8 grade and eventually just 8th grade homeroom teacher. There he taught 5-8 grades mostly math and art over 16 years. He earned a Master of Arts in Teaching in middle school mathematics from Webster University in 2001.

In 2005, Mr. Fiala took a call to teach art and math at Christ Community Lutheran School in Kirkwood, Missouri as one of the 8th grade homeroom teachers. He teaches all of the art to grades 5-8, algebra to 8th grade, and a variety of electives.

Mr. Fiala is married to Michelle, the church secretary at Glendale Lutheran Church. He has three children, Trevor and Rachel, and Audrey, awaiting him in heaven, and two step-daughters, Emma, and Laura.

In his spare time, Mr. Fiala loves to do pottery, use Photoshop, listen to progressive rock, go to 'Husker games, and help with the audio board at Concordia Church on Sunday mornings.
