Employability Skills:

This class will be operated similar to the way a healthcare facility or other type business may operate. Work ethic skills are extremely important in any work setting and are crucial in the healthcare industry. Each student will be observed throughout the year for “employability skills”. Employability will be assessed by your instructor on a regular basis, as well as randomly when needed.  You will start out with 100 points as your employability grade each week. You will lose points if found in violation of one of the safety, classroom, or work ethic rules. Poor employees lose points and may not keep their job (or in your case, you can lose the ability to choose your clinical sites or attend clinical rotations, etc.).

Examples of some actions that would cause one to lose points:

Evaluation:

  2.   Quizzes/Daily Work               40%

Semester exams count as 20% of final grade.

CELL PHONE AND PERSONAL ELECTRONICS CLASS RULES

Students must keep electronic devices such as cell phones turned off and put away. Airpods, earbuds and headsets are not permitted in the school building. In accordance with school policy, failure to follow the county policy will result in disciplinary actions.

We will use a variety of educational, presentation, and online tools throughout the year.

School laptops will be provided and personal laptops can be brought in with permission as needed.

The smart phone, while a great asset to our lives, is a distraction in the classroom. Social media, selfies, games, texting, and listening to music are too tempting for most students to resist. Students need to be able to focus on learning and engaging with each other and me during a lesson without the distraction of their phones.

Parents: please review this policy with your child, and sign and return this letter the first week of school. I will post a copy of this letter to the class website for future reference.
