Hi! My name is Jennifer Smith. Welcome to 5th Grade! I have been teaching for 22 years (21 here at Brookwood). I earned my degree in Elementary Education from Augusta University, and a degree in Interrelated Resource from Georgia Southern University. I also hold a Masters in Learning Disabilities, and I am an endorsed teacher of Gifted children. I also hold my Math Endorsement. Most importantly, I love teaching all my students!!! I am married to a wonderful husband, have 4 boys, 1 dog, and 2 cats. I love reading!!! We enjoy spending time together at our beach house!

I was honored to be selected as Brookwood's 2012-2013 Teacher of the Year.

My Teaching Philosophy:

My teaching philosophy is simple: Encourage, Engage, and Enrich. I believe students learn best in a positive, motivating, safe, structured, and fun classroom designed just for them! As a teacher, I strive to engage students in their own learning process. It is important to focus on individual learning styles, strengths, and challenge beyond the comfort zone. We build relationships, and we celebrate each success. A strong connection between teacher and parent(s) further enriches the learning experience.



All emails and voicemails will be answered within a 24 hour period during schools hours. Meetings can be set up over the phone and in person before school, after school, and during my planning period.
