About the Daily Five
Does your child talk about the Daily Five at home? What is it?
I’m very excited to introduce you to the literacy structure we are using this year. It is called the “Daily Five” and it is a program that is widely used all over the United States with great success in literacy skills for students.
The Daily Five is a structure that fully engages students in reading and writing. It helps teach independence in skills such as comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary.
Why is it called the Daily Five? It’s called the Daily Five because students can choose to go to five different literacy areas. The choice comes in the order in which they visit these areas. While students work in these areas, teachers work with individual students or small groups on skills that they need.
