All Work Done In House

To ensure the safety of your jewelry, here at Carlson Brothers we complete all repairs and manufactures in our store. Below is the step by step process of creating a custom piece of jewelry.

To begin the manufacture process, we begin with a sketch of the desired piece of jewelry.
With the sketch, the wax carver is able to begin carving out a model of the piece.
Once the model is complete with stones in place, the customer comes in to examine the wax. We then can make any adjustments needed for approval.
When the model is perfect, we set it up to be cast. All items being cast in the same metal type will be set up in the same wax tree.
We make up the investment, pour it in each flask, and let it cure over night.
Once the oven is heated, we place the flasks inside, adjusting the temperature throughout the day to burn out all wax inside. This leaves a void for the metal to be poured into.
A combination of gold and other alloys is measured out and heated up to create the desired metal type. We cast in gold, silver and platinum.
The heated metal then gets pour into the flask to fill the void that the wax was once in.
Then we wait for the metal to solidify.
Once the metal is solid, we submerge the flask in water, which washes away all of the investment.
Each piece is separated by cutting it off from the tree.
The rough castings are polished and prepped for any stone setting, engraving, or final finishes.

Once all finishing touches are complete, the item is ready to go to its new home!
