About Ms. Sturges

Hello! Welcome to my bio page. My name is MJ Sturges. I have a strong passion for reading, learning new things, and helping children reach their full potential. So, it was only natural that I would first become a teacher, then a school librarian. I feel extremely privileged to be a part of the incredibly committed and talented CIS library team. You may also know me from the Canton Public Library where I work part-time.

Prior to joining CIS, I formerly taught elementary and middle school and worked in the CMS library. I received a Sociology degree and a Teaching Certificate from Regis College in 1997. I will have achieved a Masters in Information Library Science from SCSU this May.

If I'm not in a library, you can generally find me reading a book on my patio or jogging/walking on the bike trail. Spending time with my two sons, John and Nick, is my favorite thing to do. We love watching movies, doing puzzles, and biking together. I also enjoy country music, trivia, and baseball a lot. My lifetime quest is to visit every major league baseball park. I've been to eleven of them so far! The picture above is from the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati. I also love visiting museums and historical sites. I feel so inspired when I visit them.

I love to read and I hope you do too! To quote J.K. Rowling, “If you don't like to read, you haven’t found the right book.” Stop by the CIS library and find your next great read!
