Advanced Material Processing Course Syllabus-
Mrs. Creurer
H 124, Ext 366
Advanced woodworking is a self-directed class for students who have previously completed Basic Woodworking. A major portion of class time will be consumed with students selecting a project of choice and completing it in class. Students will also have other projects to complete during the 20 week class.
Course Outline- 20 weeks
I. Wood Projects
II. Participation in Class
III. Detailed Blueprint Project
IV. Clean up
Project Requirements-50%
Each student will be required to build a bench hook for class. After the bench hook is completed construction on their individual project can begin. You must get approval of your individual personal preference project from the instructor before you may begin. If one chooses to do several small projects instead of one large project that is fine. Click this link for free woodworking plans. The individual project must be completed 1 week before the end of the school year. The last week will be used to apply finish so no tools will be used at that time. Students will also be required to complete 5 days of lab maintenance. See Mrs. Creurer at any time to complete this requirement.
Detailed Blueprint Project-25%
Students will create a step by step document with pictures and text of how you made your wood project. Anyone should be able to follow your directions to recreate your project. To see examples of what is expected for this project click this link.
Clean Up & Participation - 25%
Students will be graded on participation on a daily basis. Every week you will receive a grade for each day you worked in class. A maximum grade of a 100 is available each week. Each day is worth 20 points.
You will also be assigned a clean up job that will be performed at the end of each work period. You will be graded on how well or poorly you do your job.
