Extra Credit

Besides taking advantage of extension problems on write-ups, turning in write-ups early, and the many math content extensions available, there are some general extra credit opportunities you can complete:

  • Be a peer mentor to a student who would like support. The best way to learn a topic is to teach it! This can be a CE that can earn you credit as well, either working with Tas/Jennie/Kim after school or with me during Lunch Support or helping during Making It on Wednesday afternoons, so please talk to me and your Advisor if you are interested. I will also give you extra credit in the class, for any lunch times you work with fellow students on supporting/explaining classwork.

  • Bring in some Equity related math and share with the class. This can be data from the newspaper that uses math to support an argument about some equity topic, looking up some statistics about different groups (for example, median wages by gender), or sharing a story from TV or radio. This does NOT have to be related to our current math topic and does NOT have to be a formal presentation.

  • Create/find math resources that help with content understanding.

  • Find interesting write-up type problems.
