~Government

The government course is based upon two goals.  One is to fulfill the school district graduation requirement of at least one semester of a civics oriented class.  The second goal is to help our students better understand that present events and attitudes of the peoples are the result of historical concepts and philosophies evolving from civilizations past and present.  This course will present the basic concepts of American government from pre-Revolutionary days to the present time.  The functions of essential documents such as Declaration of Independence and the Constitution will be covered in detail.  National, state and local governments and their relationships to the citizens of the United States will also be covered.  The responsibilities and obligations of the citizen and the government to each other are an integral part of this course.  A comparison of other political systems are analyzed and contrasted with one another.
