About Miss B:

I have had the pleasure of being a part of the BTHS community since the fall of 2012. Having spent 2 years teaching in long-term positions, I was thrilled when I was hired at Township, not realizing how quickly it would become my home. I have attended multiple colleges including Rutgers Camden, RCBC, Monash University in Clayton, Australia, Rutgers New Brunswick, and received my BA from Loyola University Maryland, and my MAT from The College of New Jersey. I continued my education after receiving my degrees and English certification to work toward my special education certification.

My educational philosophy is strongly rooted in my Jesuit education during my undergraduate career. I believe education is much more than simply learning from books, but there is a focus on the whole individual. The goal in my classes is to help students become independent, successful members of our society. Many courses are discussion-based and focus on self-reflection to encourage students to think beyond the text and relate lessons to life outside of the classroom.

To form a strong community at BTHS, it is important that we all participate in extracurricular activities. I am currently co-advisor of the Prism Club, the LGBT+ support and awareness group, with Ms. Francis, as well as Literary Club, the creative writing club, with Mr. Oppermann. I am also currently serving as the Cluster Coordinator for the English Department.

I hope to help all of my students understand their potential and gain skill to learn how to reach it.
