Math--Ms. Pine

I don't expect you to be perfect. I do hope you will strive for excellence and work to improve.

We all will make mistakes. The important thing is to LEARN from those mistakes.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

If an assignment is entered into Skyward and shows up under the missing assignments list with an *, then it means I have entered the assignment itself into Skyward but haven't entered a grade for the assignment. If an assignment shows up under the missing assignments list with a 0 and missing is checked off, then it truly is missing.

An average of five homework assignments is entered after the fifth assignment was due. The assignments covered are listed in the notes section for that assignment. If one or more of the five assignments is missing, the grade is marked as "missing/0."

ONGOING HOMEWORK + when "NONE" is listed:

  • **Students should study all materials from the sections of the unit already covered to prepare for quizzes, since they aren't always announced. Tests are given at the end of the unit, so students can study each night, a little as they go. Student binders can be used to study from and should contain relevant notes on all topics covered.

To prepare for quizzes and tests, students need to study:

* Students should refer back to their binders and review the notes, warm ups and practice problems done on the topic or scroll down for a list of suggested TUTORIALS.

* Students should redo the problems they missed from the original assignments to see if they can understand what was expected/where they went wrong or scroll down for a list of suggested INSTANT ANSWERS.

* Students can complete additional practice of problems of the same type of questions in order to practice or scroll down for a list of suggested FREE WORKSHEETS.

Below are a list of online resources that may also be useful. Try one, try them all - find the one(s) you like the best.

The best time to ask questions on a topic is during class.

I am available for help in advisory every day!

Students can see me to get extra help, to find out what instruction or assignments they missed, and/or to complete any missed work. Students can see me during one of the SCORE periods.

QUIZ and TEST CORRECTIONS

***Any failing grade on a quiz or test (less than 65) can be improved up to a 65

Students have one week from when quiz was returned to hand in corrections and two weeks from when a test is returned to complete corrections.

To make corrections:

1. Do not change anything on the original quiz or test. Get a corrections form to do all corrections on.

2. Complete the heading on the top of the paper first. (The heading doesn't need to be filled out on multiple pages.) Grades less than 65 must be signed by a parent/guardian.

3. For each incorrect problem, YOU MUST:

  • rewrite the original problem completely, along with any additional directions it came with

  • explain what you did wrong the first time

  • explain the correct way to solve the problem, including any steps or rules that needed to be followed

  • solve each problem, showing ALL work and final answer, (include labels as necessary)

4. Hand in the corrections form(s) stapled on top of the original test or quiz to have the grade adjusted.

A FAILED QUIZ or TEST MUST BE SIGNED BEFORE ANY QUIZ or TEST CORRECTIONS ARE ACCEPTED.

ONLY PROBLEMS THAT ARE CORRECT WILL EARN YOU BACK HALF CREDIT!!! SEE MS. PINE FOR HELP IN ADVISORY TO MAKE SURE YOU GET ALL THE POINTS BACK THAT YOU POSSIBLY CAN!!!
